View Rob Martinez Presentation

State Historian Rob Martinez takes a musical journey through New Mexico’s rich historical past and cultural tapestry, presenting song forms that date back centuries. Penitente alabados, religious alabanzas, culturally mixed Inditas and Mexican Corridos provide context to the state’s complex and exciting history. The history of Hispano music allows us to better understand the emotional backdrop of those generations of New Mexicans who lived, loved, and dealt with strife in Santa Fe, and New Mexico, through the centuries.
