“‘Fireside Chat” on Sunday June 11th
The New Mexico Chapter of the National Preservation Association will have its next “‘Fireside Chat” this Sunday June 11th.
This “Fireside Chat” will be held at the NM Military Museum at 1050 Old Pecos Trail in Santa Fe at 3 p.m. and our speaker is Kermit Hill, a retired Santa Fe History teacher and member of at least three NM history related Boards including ours. Hill will share his vast and varied knowledge about this Era and plans to focus on some of the harsh realities of nature and other challenges that New Mexicans experienced during that Era as did he growing up in Weed, NM during that time. That southern part of the state hasn’t gotten as much exposure as some of our more popular areas of the state but there surely will be interesting and possibly unknown information provided.
The program will be held at the NM Military Museum at 3 p.m. We are pleased to be having this program at this facility since the building itself is a New Deal Treasure having been built in 1930’s by New Mexicans on the Works Progress Administration (WPA)program. It will also give some of us the opportunity to also view the interesting collection of this museum so it will most likely be “a two-for- one” enjoyable adventure. There is no charge, but donations are accepted by this non-profit group. There will be some interesting items for sale.
If you are able to be in Santa Fe, we would love to see you.
